About Us

My name is Jon Spriggs, and after a competitive swimming career that took me to the UK National Championships at 21 years of age, I returned to swimming at 40 to complete a relay swim across the English Channel in 2009. After this, I swam across the Channel solo in 2010.

My daughter, Charley Spriggs, having watched me land in France in 2010, decided that she wanted to swim the channel too, which she managed in a relay just a few days after her 12th birthday with a team of 6 swimmers (including my brother-in-law and my sister).

My second daughter, Harriette Spriggs, decided it was her turn in 2018, and together with me, my brother-in-law and two others, we completed a relay swim across the full 73km length of Lake Geneva in a record time of 22 hours and 3 minutes.

My family and I have been travelling to and from Switzerland for the last 20 years, and the stunning mountains and beautiful lakes never cease to amaze - and I can't help but think how much I always want to swim in them! After swimming Lake Geneva, my plan for SwimSwitzerland began to materialise. Having decided to call time on a career in the City, I want to pursue my real passion of helping other like-minded swimmers to discover the most amazing places to swim.
